Pre-Wedding Parties Type and Description
A wedding reception is on the top of the list of social affairs. The fun that people have at a wedding reception can hardly be beat, everyone laughs, smiles eats and enjoys themselves. For many it is the chance to see friends and family that they have not been able to see in some time. There are other social extravaganzas associated with getting married, too. They are commonly referred to as the pre-wedding parties. This is a brief description of each of the parties.
The Wedding Engagement Party
This is a celebration where the soon to be bride and groom announce their plans to unite in holy matrimony. It is common for the parents of the bride to hold the engagement party shortly after the engagement. Depending on the family the Engagement Party can be held at a restaurant or at their home. It is pretty much up to the parents of the bride, where they want the celebration to take place. This is generally a laid back environment, where the bride and groom are given the chance to meet friends and family members of their future spouse. However, this is not a gift giving event, it is more of a social interaction between the families. If there is going to be food, it is wise to include an RSVP in order to accommodate and plan accordingly. An invitation to an Engagement Party does not have to be mailed, many give just a verbal invite to this type of event.
The Wedding Bachelor/Bachelorette Party
We all must admit, when we think of Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties we think of wild fun and drinking, but this is not always the case. Many Bachelor Parties are changing into a Boy’s Night Out or a weekend getaway filled with sports. Yes, the more traditional Bachelor Parties do still exist. It is also not all that uncommon to have the Bachelor Party a week before the wedding instead of on the eve of the wedding. Bachelorette Parties are also changing, many of the ladies prefer to be pampered at the spa instead of a night out on the town. But fear not ladies, as the traditional Bachelorette Parties are still alive and well.
The Wedding Shower
A Wedding Shower used to be for the bride to be only, however that is changing as well. Many of the husbands to be are also attending the Wedding Shower. This is typically an event held to give the soon to be husband and wife some new things for the home as they begin their lives together. Many soon to be brides will get a lot of lingerie and other sexy items for their future husband. Generally only the guests that are invited to the wedding are also invited to the Wedding Shower. It is distasteful to invite someone to the Wedding Shower and not the wedding, as they might feel they were only invited for a gift.
The Wedding Rehearsal Dinner
Finally, there is the Rehearsal Dinner. This is usually a dinner that is immediately after the wedding rehearsal itself. This gives everyone in the wedding a chance to talk and wind down just before the wedding. This is a celebration that the wedding party attends, and not the guests of the wedding itself.
