How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Ceremony Location
Many couples do not realize exactly how much effort goes into finding the perfect location for the exchanging of their wedding vows, until the begin looking at their available options. Finding the ideal wedding ceremony location can actually be quite a task in itself. Especially if the ceremony is going to be held at a non-traditional place.
Some couples chose to have their wedding vows exchanged at a place of worship, which can be easily booked if the date and time requested has not already been taken. If, the time you want to get married has already been taken at your place of worship, you can change the time to another one hopefully within a decent amount of time on the same day.
So, what if you and your fiancé are not from the same religious background? Or are not affiliated with any religious denomination? Then the two of you will have to talk about what it is that you both want from the wedding ceremony location, such as, inside or outside. If at all possible, the location of the ceremony should be found, confirmed and set about a full year prior to the big day. As soon as you are sure on the location you want to exchange your wedding vows, book it, before someone else does!
A wedding can take place at virtually any location in which you wish. So let your imagination take you to the place you really desire to unite yourselves as one. Some common locations for wedding ceremonies other than a place of worship are parks, resorts, your own backyard, or even a castle.
If you are planning to have the ceremony at a location, be sure there is enough space for your guests, as well as the ease of finding it for your guests. Find out if there is a place to plug things into and even a dressing room or other place for you to change. If this location is going to be strictly for the ceremony and that’s it, then you will only need to be sure there is electrical plugs and a restroom for your guests.
When you are checking into the various locations to have your wedding ceremony at be sure to find out and have in writing the cost of the location and what is included in the cost. Once you have chosen the location, before you sign the contract read it thoroughly and be sure everything previously discussed is clearly stated within the contract. After making the initial deposit be sure you have a balance and the date written on the receipt. You should also have it clearly stated in the contract if there is a balance and when it is due.
Now that you have the location set and are happy, you will need to think about the rest of the things that go into the ceremony. Such as the vows and the music. Are you planning on writing your own personal vows or will you be using the traditional wedding vows at the ceremony? If you are writing your own vows, be sure to give a copy to the person that is conducting the ceremony, so he or she knows when you are done so you are not interrupted.
In a place of worship, there is usually a pianist that will play the wedding music and/or a singer to keep the guests entertained with some background music. However, if you prefer to hire a person to sing and play the piano at the ceremony that is generally fine. If you are outside for your ceremony, you might have to hire someone to perform. Be sure to check your contract well in advance of the wedding. If the music is not included you will need to hire someone as soon as possible for the ceremony.
