Wedding Budgeting - How to Plan a Wedding Budget
The cost of a wedding can quickly become more than anticipated by the happy
couple. Wedding budgeting, planning and sticking with a budget is your best defense to keep your
mind and wallet on the right level. Make sure that your wedding budget is one that is
attainable. Once you have an estimate of the amount of money you wish to spend
for your day of union, try your best to stay within those boundaries. However,
do allow some extra funds just incase there is something you forget about or a
change in price occurs.
Many couples feel it is not important to have a wedding budget and that they
should spend whatever it takes on their wedding. By putting yourselves on a
wedding budget you are allowing yourselves to spend around an estimated amount
of money that you know you can afford. Doing this is by no means a negative
thing and shouldn't be viewed as such. Wedding budgeting will estimate your expenses better
to ensure your chances of not falling into a financial hardship.
Communication is one of the key aspects in a successful marriage, so be open
with your future spouse about what you would like to have at the wedding and
listen to him or her about what they would like to have as well. This is going
to be a big day for the two of you, so inquire as much of what the both of you
want into the wedding day. Contrary to women’s’ popular beliefs men actually do
like to be involved in the planning of this long awaited day, so try to involve
him as much as possible.
After the thrill of getting engaged is gone, it is time to begin the
discussions about wedding budgeting with your fiancé. The best way to do this is away
from your family, friends and cell phones. Try to go somewhere that will allow
the two of you to talk without distractions and the opinions of others. Have
paper handy so you can jot down the ideas that you are discussing, this way you
can use it later when needed. Write down as much of the necessities that you can
think of, and from this point on it is a good idea to always have a pen and
paper handy to jot down any thought or ides you may want to discuss with your
partner.
After your discussions have ended in an agreement as to what should be in the
wedding, it is now time to start the wedding budgeting. Utilizing the internet is a
great way to get prices of local photographers, florists and thing like that. Go
through the list of necessities and start getting prices, this way you have a
rough idea of how much money will need to be set aside every week in order to
achieve the wedding of your dreams. Keep in mind how far away the wedding is
planned for when you are deciding how much will be spent. Do not overspend and
be realistic in your plans for the wedding. Once you have your rough idea of how
much money you will need for the wedding, you might want to open an interest
bearing savings account. Any extra money you can earn for the wedding will
surely come in handy.
In many cases different people will be more than willing to help in some way
financially, however do not be unrealistic in your expectations of others
generosity. It is definitely not ion good taste to suggest an amount to be given
by someone, instead graciously accept anything that they are willing to offer.
Do not be disappointed in what someone else has to offer, as the interest
bearing savings account might be able to make up for the smaller amounts of
money you receive.
If possible, when someone will be helping with the financial part of the
wedding budget, it is nice to know how much they will be giving. This way you will be
able to determine the best way to spend the money, on flowers, the hall, limo
rental, or anything else. For the smaller amounts that are given to you, a great
suggestion is to put it towards the most expensive part of the wedding to
lighten the final payment.
Referring back to your list or wedding budget you will be able to determine with ease
where the money should go first. As you begin to book your music, hall and
photographer you should deduct the down payment and each payment you make. This
way you are on top of all of your expenses and know exactly how much it will
cost you on the day of your wedding. For any extra help with wedding budgeting you can
easily find wedding budget sheets that will help you to stick with the budget as
well as determine exactly what you need to budget for.
