Free Wedding Planning Ideas and Resources

The day of your dreams has finally come true. The love of your life has asked you to spend the rest of your lives together and unite as one. Now what happens? Well, a successful wedding involves a lot of planning and budgeting. Whether you are having an extravagant wedding or a small gathering in your backyard, you will need to plan accordingly.

Planning a wedding is a lot of hard work. In this day and age pretty much anything goes. It's more or less all up to the bride and groom how the wedding is going to go. The family of the bride no longer has the final say in the wedding plans. Good communication and a strong budget will prove to bring you distances in your journey to plan the perfect wedding day.

The first part of your plan is going to have to be the wedding date. This is very important and actually does take some thought, contrary to popular belief. After the date has been chosen there is the location of the ceremony. This is determined by personal preference, such as indoors, outdoors at a place of worship or a public location. From there, you need to determine the location of the reception, if it is going to be different than the place where the vows are going to be exchanged.

Then you can begin to think about the honeymoon. What types of places would you like to go? Is there anything specific that you want to do that might limit the destinations of the honeymoon? These are just a few of the things that need to be thought through in order for you to be able to fully enjoy your honeymoon.

Now that the two of you have thrown some ideas on the table, it is time to put together a realistic budget. Determine the amount of money you can set aside every payday towards the wedding. Be sure not to over estimate. There is no need to put yourselves into a financial bind in order to get married. It is much better to under estimate the amount you can set aside and add a little extra when ever possible.

Once you have your estimated amount to spend on your wedding you can begin to divide it accordingly. For example, the amount of money you want to spend on flowers, the reception, the dress and favors. There will more than likely be some unexpected costs that arise, so try to leave some extra money aside in the event there are some little extras that went forgotten.

Keep in mind there are deposits that will need to be made as you begin the reservation process for your wedding day. As you begin paying your deposits, be sure you get a receipt for the payment. If at all possible you should also get a payment schedule as well as something that tells you when the final payment is due. Be sure each payment that is made is subtracted from the balance due.
